George Watsky, professionally known as Watsky, is an American Rapper, poet, producer & author. He is best known for his slam poetries. He got international fame after he became the Youth Speaks Grand Slam Poetry Champion in 2006. He was also featured on Season 6 of Russell Simmons Presents Def Poetry on HBO. Watsky is also known for his appearances in Epic Rap Battles of History, and as an author of  How to Ruin Everything. He is a versatile lyricist who switches between silly and sober, technically complex and simply warm.

George Watsky Early Life

Watsky was born on September 15, 1986 San Francisco, California to Clare Miller & Paul Norman Watsky. His father was a librarian and psychotherapist. His birth name is George Virden Watsky. His twin brother Simon Jay Watsky is a helicopter pilot. He studied at San Francisco University High School and graduated from Emerson College with a B.A. in “Writing and Acting for the Screen and Stage.”

Watsky started slam poetry at the age of 15 and since then he is getting popularity in this genre. He has won dozens of slams therefore; he was called as the Bay Area's reigning teen champion. His poetry is based on social and political themes. In 2009, The Boston Globe reviewed his performance in the show “Where the Magic Happens”; and called him a "poetry-slam star.

Music

In 2009, Watsky produced a 15-track hip-hop album titled Watsky. The next year, he released the album Guilty Pleasures, which he made available as a free download on his website. He established himself as rapper from his next song “Pale kid raps fast” which released in 2011. This song was uploaded on YouTube and got four million views within two days, which exceeded to twenty five million. In 2012, he released a free mix tape Nothing Like The First Time and in the same year, he started his production company by the Steel Wool Media. He went on to record several hip hop albums, including Cardboard Castles in 2013, All You Can Do in 2014, and x Infinity in 2016, and held many live performances with his touring band Crème Fraîche.

Acting

In 2013, Watsky appeared in fourth season of Netflix semi original series Arrested Development as Chris Kazmierczak. In addition to this Watsky has also appeared in several Epic Rap Battles of History videos, rapping as and portraying one of the battling characters. To date he has played William Shakespeare, the Fourth Doctor (of Doctor Who), and Edgar Allan Poe. 
Watsky is set to appear as Tanner in a soon to be releasing film Blindspotting,

In June 2016, Watsky published a collection of his essays in a book entitled How to Ruin Everything. It entered the top ten in The New York Times Best Seller list,
