Hannibal Buress Early Life

Hannibal Buress was born on February 4th in Chicago Illinois. His father named him after Hannibal Barca, the General of ancient Carthage city who invaded Rome. John Buress, his father, was an employee of Union Pacific Railroad, while his mother, Margaret was a teacher. 
He spent his early childhood in Chicago and went to Steinmetz College. After completing his college education, he went to Southern Illinois University Carbondale but couldn't complete his degree and dropped out early.
During his university time, he met and made friends with Open Mike Eagle, the famous hip-hop artist.   Open Mike Eagle was the resident advisor of Hannibal Barca in the university.  He actually started his stand-up comedy career in 2002 while he was in the university, however, he couldn't get attention for a larger audience.  It was only in 2009 when he got a big break by performing in a Comedy Central's show. 
In his stand up comedy performances, he has mentioned it many times that he struggled in getting along with ladies. According to his many narratives, many ladies simply turned him down because he was falsely associated with a fictional character Hannibal Lecter who is a cannibal.

Hannibal Buress started formal stand-up comedy during his university years in 2002. After some early setbacks, he rose to fame after a successful appearance in the Comedy Central program called The Awkward Comedy Show.  Within a year of this show, he was named among the Top 10 comedians list by Variety Magazine.  
In 2010, Hannibal released his first stand-up comedy Album named My Name is Hannibal, which got mixed reviews.  Hannibal has shared the stage with the top comedians of the time including Eric Andre, Victor Varnado, and Marina Franklin among many others. 
Apart from comedy, Hannibal has had a successful writing career as well. In one of his famous quotes, he said that he could easily become a writer, but he chose comedy as his real career. Before being too busy with his stand-up comedy, he was employed as a writer in Saturday Night Live during the years 2009 and 2010. He was also associated with NBC's comedy series 30 Rock as a writer for six months. 
Hannibal has also got serious acting skills and his recent appearances include the role of Coach Wilson in the Spider Man: Homecoming Movie in 2017.
