An independent film named as “The Schedule” was made by actor Joey, Matt, and Burnie while they were at University of Texas. The film did not get success but because of its help Heyman and Hullum got a job in Los Angeles. Burns met Gustavo Sorola, Jason Saldana, Goeff Ramsay and Dan Godwin in a local company where he was working. They changed their name to ‘Rooster Teeth’ because the name ‘drunkgamers’ was unprofessional and they were not getting any sponsors for their website. Rooster Teeth is a euphemism for the word cockbite which was insult from the original trailer of Red vs. Blue.
The business strategy of Rooster Teeth is a hybrid model that consist YouTube pre-roll ads, branded merchandized, subscriptions, licensed studio productions, annual live events and onsite pre-roll ads.
In order to maintain their community site, initially Rooster Teeth was not ready to join YouTube. Shortly a two-year lease was signed by them and they moved into stage 5 at Austin Studios.
