Better known by his stage name Yung lean, Jonatan Leandoer Håstad is a Swedish fashion designer, rapper, songwriter, a singer as well as a record producer from Södermalm, Stockholm. Following the release of his debut mix tape in 2013, Yung Lean started getting recognition after the songs "Kyoto" and "Ginseng Strip 2002" went viral. Since then, he has released an additional three projects. On November 10, 2017, he released his third album titled Stranger.

Early Life of Yung lean

Yung was born in Stockholm, Sweden on 18 July, 1996. His father Kristoffer Leandoer was a fantasy author, a Swedish poet, a translator of French Literature as well as owning a publishing company. His mother Elsa Håstad was a human right activist working in South America, Vietnam and Russia alongside LGBT groups. Her mother moved them in Minsk, Belarus so that he could have a childhood that was similar to hers. When Yung was around three to five, they returned to Sweden and settled in Stockholm. It was in the city's Södermalm district that he was raised. Yung also grew up speaking both Swedish and Russian. While also having a job at a local McDonalds, Yung often got in trouble for crafting graffiti or doing drugs during his time in high school. Mentioning The Latin Kings's Mitt Kvarter, 50 Cent's Get Rich or Die Tryin' and Nas's Illmatic, it was in his youth that he began to develop an interest in hip hop music.

Career of Yung lean

It was in a local Stockholm park that Håstad met Yung Sherman and Yung Gud and discovering that they pretty much enjoyed the same music, they quickly struck up a friendship. Later becoming part of Gravity Boys Shield Gang, Lean, Sherman and Gud initially formed what was known as the Hasch Boys along with other Stockholm individuals. Sherman, Lean and Gud realized that they were the only active members of the "Hasch Boys" once all of the other member starved losing interest and left. As a direct result of that, they then formed as a collective trio named "Sad Boys". While Lean would be writing lyrics as well as recording vocals and uploading most of these songs to his SoundCloud profile, Yung Gud and Yung Sherman started producing and mixing the music simultaneously. When he was sixteen years old, he would record the bigger part of his music in the basement where his studio was and he also performed his first show in Gothenburg, Sweden.
In 2013, Yung stated attracting public attention as the music video for the "Ginseng Strip 2002" went viral and quickly exceeded 2 million views on YouTube. Along with other songs that he felt was worthy of a wide released, in the same year, he started putting put his official releases: EP titled Lavender which includes the track "Ginseng Strip 2002" and Unknown Death 2002. As a result, at number 44, Sound placed "Ginseng Strip 2002" on their "Top 50 Songs of 2013". Vibe also included in their "The 10 Most Overlooked Debut Rap Mixtapes of 2013" the "Unknown Death 2002". 
Sad Boy and Lean toured through Europe in 2013. Acclaim Magazine, later in that same year invited Yung as their guest and asked him about a variety of miscellaneous things which included his desktop wallpaper as well as his favorite hangover.
